Social Worker & Counsellor

Lizeth Walters is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the United States and a qualified social worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She earned her Master of Social Work at the University of Houston, where she was selected as a Trauma Education Program Fellow, deepening her understanding of trauma across the lifespan.

Lizeth has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in residential psychiatric and forensic child advocacy settings, supporting individuals impacted by trauma, including sexual abuse, family violence, and complex mental health presentations. Her work has involved assessment, psychoeducation, and therapeutic intervention, and includes experience delivering an attachment-based, culturally responsive intervention with Latin American families. This work shaped her interest in how trauma, culture, and early relationships influence people’s inner world and patterns of relating.

Lizeth has a particular interest in working with adolescents navigating identity and emotional complexity, individuals living with invisible or chronic illness and disability, and women navigating the transition to motherhood. She is especially attuned to experiences that are not always outwardly visible- where individuals may feel misunderstood, dismissed, or under pressure to appear “well” while managing significant internal distress, identity shifts, or ongoing health challenges.

Lizeth’s therapeutic approach is grounded in a relational, trauma-informed framework guided by psychodynamic thinking, with particular attention to attachment. She works collaboratively with clients to explore patterns of relating and emotional experience with curiosity and care, while supporting the development of awareness, regulation, and meaningful change. ‘I am interested in creating a space where people can pause and begin to notice their experiences with greater clarity. Often, what feels overwhelming in the present is connected to earlier ways of relating and making sense of the world. In our work together, I aim to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and finding new ways of relating to themselves and others.’

Lizeth brings warmth, openness, and genuine respect to her work. She is committed to practicing in a thoughtful, ethical, and culturally responsive manner.
