Dian Abdurachman

Jungian Analyst/Psychotherapist

MBBS | Individual Adult Psychotherapy

Dian is a Zurich-trained Jungian psychoanalyst with previous experience as a medical doctor in Australian public mental health services. After graduating from the University of Western Australia medical school, she worked mainly as a psychiatry registrar, servicing patients across demographic background.
Her passion in the exploration of inner and outer life brought her to Zurich-Switzerland- the birthplace of Jungian psychology. She then immersed herself in the formation to be a Jungian psychoanalyst for seven years. She worked in a private practice in Zurich providing long-term psychotherapy work, and in the International Institute for Management Development – Lausanne, providing short term therapy as part of professional developmental elective unit for their MBA students.

Even though some of her clients come for short term work, Dian’s specialisation is in depth psychology – a type of work that explores both the conscious and unconscious aspect of personality, including dream interpretation and the use of creative arts to process emotion and life experiences.

Psychoanalysts work with their clients regularly to explore their stories, feelings, hope, and pattern of relating in the context of their family history and culture. The hope is not only for symptom resolution but also for the personal growth.

Dian sees adult clients with various symptoms or topics to be discussed. The topics could include those that are perceived as dark and painful, or those that are perplexing. Her work is influenced by psychodynamic psychotherapy and informed by the notion of mind-body connection.
